
Police have found what they suspect are human remains at two locations near a beach in New York, bringing to 10 the number of potential victims of a possible serial killer.
Lieutenant Kevin Smith, said that a human skull was found among the vegetation approximately 27 metres from the promenade from the sea on Long Island, on Monday afternoon. Police found another set of remains earlier in the day.
The two sets of remains have been sent to the Office of Nassau County medical examiner for further analysis.
Researchers about 125, some with dogs and horses, have been scouring Jones Beach State Park at the discovery was made. In a neighbouring County, officers found eight sets of remains human in recent months.
Authorities believe the death can be the work of a serial killer, but no suspect has been identified.
Shannan Gilbert, a prostitute who was the original subject, research is still missing.
The research focused on a section in expansion of Long Island Ocean Parkway. A search in a section of 11 kilometres concluded Thursday, but investigators later moved west Monday.
While searching for Gilbert, 24 years old who was the last time in may a seaside enclave several kilometres away, the police discovered the first body in December. Three-body more shot two days later. Later, all four were identified as prostitutes in the twenties.
A fifth body was found, two weeks ago about 1.6 km is first four and the police located three organs more last week. Police have not identified all of the latest bodies and have them not definitively linked to the remains found in December.
All the bodies of eight were within five kilometres of each other on the north side of the Ocean Parkway. The bones discovered Monday were also on the north side of the road.
Authorities quickly discarded Gilbert than any of the eight victims because forensic evidence, they have had the file in its case. She had been in the region to respond to a client. Police were not called client as a suspect in her disappearance, and he cooperated with investigators.
